This introductory session aims to give a snapshot of the current situation of children in contact with justice systems around the world and will define strategies to improve the interface between youth justice and child protection systems.

This session will study why violent extremism among children is different from adults, and will bring answers to understand better this phenomenon, by setting out definitions and characteristics of children involved in extreme violence. Then it will focus on the development of the adolescent the attraction to violent extremism and how to encourage the active participation of children to prevent it.
