PREPARATORY MEETINGS – WORLD CONGRESS 2021

The following preparatory events were organized:

  • The North American Preparatory Congress on Child Justice was held in Yucatan, Mexico, from May 8 to 10, 2019. The aim of this congress is to identify challenges and solutions to promote more appropriate justice for children.
  • South American Regional Preparatory Meeting was held in Buenos Aires – Argentina on 6 and 7 June 2019, and was organized by Terre des hommes, AIMJF, Defense of Children and Penal Reform International.
  • The first preparatory meeting with children in September 2020, where children from different states will be present to give their opinion, will be organized by Terre des hommes with the association Colectivo AVE, in partnership with the Government of the State of Yucatan.

Other preparatory meetings are under consideration in the other regions, particularly in Africa and Asia.

These world congresses and preparatory meetings are a unique opportunity to bring together key actors in juvenile justice and child rights at the international level, to promote dialogue and cooperation on these central and current themes of child protection and to disseminate action in this field at the global level.
