Maarten van de Donk (1970) studied social history at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. After a period as alderman in one of the boroughs in Rotterdam he became consultant on preventive youth programmes and policy. On both positions he got in touch with radicalisation. Since 2012 he is fully working on this topic as one of the account managers in the Centre of Excellence of the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN). Within the Centre Van de Donk is supporting the working groups on Victims of Terrorism and Exit. He also divers trainings on radicalisation awareness and supporting EU Member States in implementing elements of Preventing or Countering Violent Extremism policy.
