Bernardo Stadelmann studied Law Sciences at the University of Basel. He was assistant from 1988 to 1991 at the Chair of Criminal Law at the University of Fribourg (CH). From 1992 to 2002, he was chief court clerk and reporter at the newly created Administrative Court of the canton of Fribourg (CH). From 2002, he was head of project for the creation of the Federal Penal Court and the Federal Administrative Court at the Federal Department for Justice and Police. Since 2004, he is Vice-Director at the Federal Office of justice and Head of the Criminal Law Division. As such, he is among other responsible for the legislation in the domains of criminal law, law of criminal procedure, execution of sentences and measures and the Swiss criminal records.
