Fatima Zaman has been selected by the Kofi Annan Foundation to become one of its Extremely Together Young Leader based on her track record in fighting violent extremism in the UK. As a civil servant, she advises key stakeholders on countering violent extremism (CVE). Her expertise lies in the role of education in preventing violent extremism. In 2017, as part of the Kofi Annan Foundation's Extremely Together initiative, she helped write and design the first ever youth-led countering violent extremism tool-kit and guide, a practical resource to empower youth across the world to actively prevent violent extremism. Alongside this, she pioneered a CVE Roadshow in schools and universities across the United Kingdom to help young people understand what violent extremism is and spot early signs of radicalization. Ms. Zaman has a keen interest in counter-narratives that seek to dispel, discredit and destroy the narrative employed by extremists.
